The newly access to youtbe has helped us the students to add visual effects to our work that we do on the computers for classes. Youtube has made a big difference in the way we do things in class since its easier than just putting simple pictures on your work when you can add visual effects like a video that will help you explain your work that you're researching. For the most part the visual effects explain more than what we can with our own words.
Youtube is also a great distraction to the youth of today because of all the music, talk shows, shows, cartoons and many other types of videos that could pose as a distraction. The biggest problem with having youtube is that kids don't want to work and would rather watch a video on the computers that they are assigned for the class, and if the child acts on his/her own will of watching a video on youtube he will not proceed to do his/her work which would cause problems in the work ethics. If the child is unfocused on the work that has been given to them there might be problems with grades decreasing.
I think that having youtube is a bonus because it will help some people focus if there is music playing and if they can't afford a music device of some sort. If we decide to need to find visual and auditori effects we could go to youtube to find such things and its a means of finding out more about topics that we knew little about. I think by keeping youtube we will be able to procceed with a better source of information than the normal text that we used in the past years without the use of youtube. But I also thing there are side effects of being able to go to the site because of the Video's that could side tract the students from their work and cause them to careless of what they are doing.
I agree completely with you, Youtube is a great source of video examples that can be extremely beneficial to school projects, but in the same way, very distracting because as you said, we can just start watching music videos and other things to distract us from the task at hand. Its definately a site to be used with responsibility.
ReplyDeleteyou have a good point about students being off topic. i also think youtube needs to be used with responsibility because it is very easy to become distracted with other things
ReplyDeletei agree..i think youtube helps us understand things better...its better to watch a vid then read a paragraph..lol
ReplyDeleteI agree with your post. I think teachers should let everyone use youtube because if they find something about there topic, and they are able to put it with their project, it will explain it better and help with their marks. I also think that if everyone uses it responsibly we should be able to listen to music while working.
ReplyDeleteIt's a complicated thing to disagree with, considering it's a whole new era and degree of information for everyone to see. It can be used for silly or usless things, but I agree that it could help a lot of people in various ways. Also helping explain things from teacher to student with sight and auditory information at their fingertips.
